Other Hair Magick

Hair magick can be performed without removing a single piece form your head. There are lots of ways to add some enchantment to your hair care routine, to attract the energies you desire, and to repel those you don’t.

Essential Oils: You can add a few drops of essential oil to your shampoo or conditioner. Remember to only add a small amount so that it doesn’t compromise the product. Try mint for prosperity, rosemary for protection, or chamomile for peace.

Braids: If you have long hair, you can use knot magick to attract your desires. While braiding your hair, visualize what you would like to bring into your life. When you tie the elastic in place, state, “It is done.” Repeat this every time you braid your hait until the thing you seek comes to you.

Cleansing: Every New Moon, pull the hair out of your hairbrush and safely burn it while letting go of everything you no longer need. This will clear out all the stagnant energy from the last Moon cycle, clearing th way for growth and new beginnings.

Crystals: Quartz crystal amplifies your personal power and boosts spiritual awareness. Place a quartz crystal in your bottle of shampoo or other hair product. The energy from the quartz crystal will linger every time you wash your hair. You can do this with other crystals as well according to what you want to attract. Just make sure the crytals you choose won’t be ruined by being immersed in liquid.

Spell to Break a Bond

This spell is to be done when you wish to remove yourself from another person’s sphere of influence or cut energetic ties with them for any reason. This is best performed during the dark moon.

You will need:

  • Piece of hair belonging to the person in question
  • Piece of your own hair
  • Scissors
  • Bowl
  • Fireproof dish
  • Charcoal disk
  • Lighter
  • Dried bay leaves

Hold the two hairs together. Visualize the bond between yourself and the other perosn, which may be toxic and unhealthy. Allow yourself to feel the emotions this i nvokes, as you gaze at the entwined hair. You might feel sadness, anger, regret, or other unpleasant things while doing this. Now imagine your feelings are forming a mass of energy in front of your heart/chest area. This may look like a scribbled chaotic mess, a sad murky blob, or something else, depending on your relationship with the person and the nature of its discord. Visualize this mass of energy moving into the hairs.

Place the bowl in front of you. Using the scissors, cut the hairs into as many tiny pieces as you can, being sure to catch all the fragments in the bowl. If the hairs are too short for this, you can snip the scissors in the air around the hairs to symbolically cut what binds you.

Light the charcoal disk and put it in a fireproof dish. Carefully transfer hte hair pieces from the bowl onto the disk. As they hiss and burn, imagine the unhealthy ties that bind you together transforming into smoke and floating away.

Place a bay leaf on the charcoal disk. As it burns, allow the smoke to cleanse the area. Waft the smoke with your hand onto your face and body, feeling the purifying energy. You can burn as many bay leaves as you wish until you feel the spell is done.

You have now begun to free yourself from the unhealthy attachment. After a spell of this kind, there may be changes in your life, such as a breakup, a shift of circumstances, or some other upheaval. Keep in mind that in a truly toxic situation, thsi tupe of change is for the best.

Lily (Lilium spp.)

New moon, Imbolc. Ruled by the moon and the element of water. Sacred to Adonis, Astarte, Athena, Attis, Ceres, Isis, Jupiter, Kundalini, Lakshmi, maiden goddesses, moon goddesses, Osiris, Psyche, Sophia, and Venus. [1]

If you want to keep the evil eye, negative spirits, and unwanted visitors away from your threshold, plant a few lily bulbs. These tall beauties grow three to four feet high. Not only will they bring protection to your doorstep, but they’ll also add charm. As a bonus, their trumpet-shaped flowers are a magnet for hummingbirds. [2]

Gardening by the Moon

It is believed that the moon’s gravitational pull extends beyond Earth’s oceans, affecting the moisture in the soil, seeds, and plants. Some gardeners utilize this timing to strategically plan various gardening activities.

Gardening by Moon Phase

During the waxing moon (from new moon to full moon), plant annuals, crops that need to be seeded anew each year, and those that produce their yeild above the ground. During the waning moon (from full moon to new moon), plant biennials, pereniials, and bulb and root plants. As a rule, these are plants that produce below the ground.

These are not hard and fast divisions. If you can’t plant during hte first quarter, plant during the secon, and vice versa. There are many plants that seem to do equally well planted in either quarter, such as watermelon, hay, and cereals and grains.

FIRST QUARTER (WAXING). The first quarter begins with the new moon. Plant annuals that produce their yeild above the ground and are generally of the leafy kind that produce their seed outside their fruit. Examples are asparagus, broccoli, brussesl sprouts, parsley, and spinach. Cucumbers an exception, as they do best in the first quarter rather than the second, even thought the seeds are inside the fruit. Also in hte first quarter, plant cereals and grains.

SECOND QUARTER (WAXING): Plant annuals htat produce their yield above ground and are generally the viney types that produce their seed inside the fruit. Examples include beans, eggplant, melons, peas, peppers, pumpkins, squash, and tomatoes.

THIRD QUARTER (WANING): The third quarter begins with the full moon. Plant biennials, perennials, and bulb and root plants. Also plant trees, shrubs, berries, beets, carrots, onions, parnsips, peanuts, potatoes, radishes, rhubarb, rutabagas, strawberries, turnips, winter wheat, and grapes.

FOURTH QUARTER (WANING): This is the best time to cultivate, turn sod, pull weeds, and destroy pests of all kinds, especially when the moon is in the barren signs of Aries, Virgo, Gemini, Aquarius, and Sagittarius.
